Painting studies (NSFW)

Here are some of the studies I've been doing for 30 days challenge. It's day 18. Progress is slow but surely. My next challenge will be environments. I'm also studying Joe Weatherly's Animals book, started the same time as the challenge. Good thing I got a long break from my internship. Eat, sleep, practice, repeat :D.

X-Mas card for my friend

Happy Holidays my friends!

I have a very dear friend back in Vietnam. We met in 3rd grade and again in 5th, then we were classmates until I left the country. Every year she still sends me birthday wishes and Christmas cards. For a while I've been drawing personal cards for her. This is this year's X-Mas card trying to learn from Pascal's style.

We grew up reading Doraemon and always wished for his gadgets to spend time together.

I've also been doing more painting study with fine art nudes. I'll post some of the better looking ones next time.

Inktober half marathon

These are good practice. I've been doing pencil under-drawing, being precious with the result. I need to get back into dynamic sketching.

So much to learn

I'm getting into graphic design and typography, in pursuit of a designer's mind. I've always thought GD and entertainment art are 2 separate fields, but after all, we are all doing creative works.

Still doing painting studies. I'm also doing the Inktober half marathon (above). A bit late so I'll catch up next week.

And a painting practice, mostly with photo reference of a cosplayer but changed the face.

The con sars has finally gotten to me after more than a week of battling, I've come down with sore throat and headache. 

Meanwhile, I try to focus on learning digital painting. Going to need to do a lot of studies. I also need to find work. If anyone knows any entry level positions around LA, let me know. It means a lot. :D.

Viscom 1 final

Gnomon's Viscom class is over. For the final we were to use what we learned and design a product, submitting a beauty shot, detail shot, and usage shot. I decided to challenge myself a little and make a simple robot as I'm used to drawing people and organic creatures.

Did you see GoT? Because I didn't. In fact I'm way behind. And today everyone kept talking about how mind blowing this week's episode is. I almost read the spoilers couple times. So, here's a pretty generic looking dragon, applying the first lecture of Animal anatomy at CDA.
